AI Search Optimization

Show up inside Google's AI answer, not underneath it

AI Overviews sit above the first organic result on many of the searches Southwest Florida homeowners make before they hire. We do the classic ranking work and the answer-shaped rewrites that turn your pages into cited sources. Baseline recorded on day one, tracked query by query.

Google AI Overviews optimization is the work of making your business a cited source inside the AI-written answers at the top of Google results. There is no separate AI index. Overviews draw from Google's normal search index, so the way in is classic local SEO plus pages written so the AI can lift a clean answer. We do both, for Southwest Florida service businesses.

What AI Overviews are and why the clicks moved

An AI Overview is the machine-written summary Google now places above the regular results on many question-style searches. It answers in a few sentences, then cites the pages it drew from as clickable source links. As of mid-2026 we see them constantly on the searches Southwest Florida customers make before hiring: what a tankless water heater costs to install, whether salt air ruins pool cages, how often a seawall should be inspected, what age a child should first see a dentist.

That placement changes the click math. When an overview appears, it sits above the first organic listing, so some searchers read the answer and never scroll. The businesses cited as sources collect most of the attention that remains. Everyone else sits below the fold on the exact searches where a homeowner is deciding who to trust. If your page fed the answer, you get the citation link plus the credibility of being the source Google leaned on. If it didn't, a competitor's page just briefed your future customer.

The fact this whole service is built on: there is no separate AI index

Here is the part a lot of AI SEO pitches get wrong. Google AI Overviews do not pull from some new AI database you need a trick to enter. They draw from Google's normal search index, the same one your classic rankings come from. Google's systems pick pages that already rank and read well for the question, then compose the overview from them.

Two things follow from that, and they set the whole plan:

  • Classic local SEO is the entry ticket. A page that cannot crack the regular results for a query will not be quoted in the overview for it. Rankings first, citations second. That is why this service is welded to local SEO rather than sold as a replacement for it.
  • Extractability decides who gets quoted among the rankers. When several pages rank for a question, the overview favors the ones it can lift a clean, complete answer from: a clear question heading, a direct answer of a few sentences underneath it, specifics instead of fluff.

One precision note: the Google-Extended robots.txt control governs whether Google may use your content for Gemini training and grounding, not your eligibility for AI Overviews, which ride the normal search index; the full explanation lives on our Gemini and Copilot optimization page.

What the service includes

This page covers one productized slice of our AI search optimization service: Google's own AI layer. Here is what we actually do.

  • Rank foundation. We build or tighten the classic signals that get your pages into the index and up the results: on-page local SEO across your service pages, your Google Business Profile, consistent name-address-phone data, and internal linking. Without this layer, nothing else on the list matters.
  • Question mapping. We collect the real questions customers in your trade ask before hiring, from search suggestions, People Also Ask, and your own call notes. Each service page gets a mapped set of questions it should own for your market, whether that is Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, or Marco Island.
  • Extractability rewrites. We restructure pages so each mapped question has its own heading with a direct, complete answer underneath, written to be quotable on its own. Specific beats vague: honest price ranges you can stand behind, real timelines, and local detail like salt air, storm season, and the snowbird demand swing.
  • Structured data. We implement schema markup that spells out who you are, what you do, and where you serve, so Google can connect your pages to your business entity without guessing.
  • Tracking and reporting. Through our AI visibility monitoring, we record which of your target queries trigger an AI Overview and whether your pages are among the cited sources, right next to classic rankings and Map Pack visibility. The baseline is recorded on day one, the same way we publish it on our results pages.

Honest expectations

We will not promise you a spot in AI Overviews, because nobody controls one. Google decides, query by query, whether an overview appears at all. The same search can show one on Tuesday and skip it on Friday. Cited sources rotate. Anyone guaranteeing placement is guessing on your dime.

What we can tell you is how the work tends to move. We set a 90-day ramp expectation with every client. Long-tail question searches move first, because they are less contested and because a tightly answered question page is exactly what an overview likes to quote. Head terms take longer and lean harder on the classic ranking foundation. A business that already ranks well can see citations sooner once its pages are restructured; a site starting from nothing needs the foundation built first.

And we report what actually happened, not what we hoped. Our case studies start from a recorded day-one baseline and add real numbers as they land. We never publish invented results.

Want to try it yourself first?

Fair enough. Our guide on how to rank in Google AI Overviews walks through the full method: finding the questions worth answering, structuring a page so it can be quoted, and checking whether it worked. That guide holds the how-to depth this page deliberately skips. You can also run our free AI visibility checker to see how your site looks to AI systems right now.

Plan fit and pricing

AI Overviews work is included in every Naples SEO plan, not held back as a top-tier upsell. Our month-to-month pricing is published: Local at $750 per month, Growth at $1,500, and Dominate from $3,000. The tiers differ in scope and speed, meaning how many pages, questions, and markets we work at once, not in whether the AI layer is included.

We are a Naples company with an office on Tamiami Trail. We have built and ranked more than 100 local business sites, and we are rated 5.0 on Google. If you want to know where you stand before spending anything, request the free audit and you will have a report within one business day, including whether AI Overviews are already showing on the searches that matter for your trade in Collier and Lee County.

Frequently asked questions

No. AI Overviews are composed from pages in Google's normal search index, the same index classic rankings come from. That is why the work starts with local SEO fundamentals: if a page cannot rank in the regular results for a query, it will not be cited in the overview for that query. There is no separate submission process, database, or shortcut, and you should be skeptical of anyone selling one.
No, and nobody honestly can. Google decides query by query whether to show an overview at all and which sources to cite, and both change often. What we can do is build the rankings and answer-shaped pages that overviews consistently draw from, then track your target queries so you see exactly where you are cited. We set a 90-day ramp expectation with every client and expect long-tail questions to move first.
No. Google-Extended governs whether Google may use your content for Gemini training and grounding. It does not control classic Google indexing, and it is not the eligibility switch for AI Overviews, which draw from the normal search index. The two get conflated constantly, including by people selling AI SEO services. If a site is missing from overviews, the cause is almost always ranking or extractability, not that setting.
We keep a list of the real questions customers in your market search, check those queries on a regular schedule, and record two things: whether Google shows an AI Overview for the query, and whether your pages are among the cited sources. That goes into your reporting next to classic rankings and Map Pack visibility, starting from a recorded day-one baseline, so movement is visible and honest.
It is included in every plan, not sold as a top-tier upsell. Our published month-to-month pricing starts at $750 per month for the Local plan, and AI search optimization, including the AI Overviews work described on this page, is part of all three tiers. If you want to see where you stand first, request the free audit and we will send a report within one business day.
